Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

  • What does "Humanity before vanity" mean?

Here at Dog Stars we believe that the welfare and needs of the pet always comes first. That means that when it comes down to it, we are always going to do what’s right for the dog. We will never force a dog to go through a service that will cause trauma or harm. That means that sometimes we may not do something the way you want because it is not good for the dog. We will communicate with you every step of the way to customize your dog’s service to meet their needs.

  • Do you offer multi-pet discounts?

While we love that you have a whole pack of furballs (I have four!), we cannot offer multi-pet discounts at this time. In the future we may offer packages and discounts to relieve some of the costs of caring for a collection of wagging tails, but we are unable to for now.

  • How long does a grooming service take?

We typically ask 2-3 hours to complete any service. A number of factors are involved in how long it takes to groom your dog, including size, coat condition and length, giving them any needed breaks, and other dogs booked for the day. Some dogs only take 1 hour to complete while others may take up to 3 or 4.

  • When do I drop off my dog?

You will be scheduled a drop-off time for your appointment. This can be any time between 8am and 4pm depending on availability and type of service. Having appointments staggered throughout the day means your pet spends less time waiting, and we have time to give each pet individual attention.

  • My dog doesn't do well in a kennel. What do I do?

Those dogs that have severe crate anxiety, kennel aggression, or are otherwise unsuited for a crate may have their service done straight through for a $15 fee. You must be available to pick your pet up as soon as they are done. Click here to learn more.

  • Can I drop my dog off early?

While we do accept early drop offs, it is important to note that dropping off early does not mean your dog’s service will be started early. Dogs dropped off more than 1 hour before their appointment are subject to a day boarding fee.

  • How far in advance can i book?

We encourage booking a recurring appointment every 4, 6, or 8 weeks and can book your appointments for the entire year! That way you wont have to worry about trying to get squeezed in at the last minute for major events or holidays.

  • Do you let the dogs play together?

No we don’t. Pets are crated or otherwise contained in their own spaces. Some dogs get nervous around other dogs while others can be aggressive. So to avoid any unnecessary stress or incident, we keep all pets separated from one another.

  • What Happens If My Dog Is Injured?

We will never intentionally cause harm to any pet in our care, but working with live animals can be unpredictable and accidents do happen. In the unfortunate event that a pet becomes ill or injured while in our care, we will always seek veterinary care for your pet. See our Service Agreement for more info.
